Mai Oscillator (MO): the newest and most accurate market timing and strength measurement tool as comparing to others tools with similar functionalities. This is a momentum base indicator. I've smoothed the indicator line with 10-period exponential moving average for a smoother reading, which I've called the "signal line". The indicator gives buy and sell signal every time the signal line crosses above and below the zero (0) line. It also predicts a change in trend and/or confirms whether the market hits the top or the bottom via divergences. It has been back tested for 8 years and gives more than 80% of accuracy on its own and more than 90% of accuracy when it's combined with other trend following indicators like moving averages for example. Keep in mind that there is no perfect or even near perfect indicator out there. Each indicator is good for its own functionality and at best when it's combined with other related technical analysis techniques. Example: Mai Oscillator versus NASDAQ Composite Index The MO bearish divergence from December 2005 - April 2006 had forewarned the May's correction. Preceded the powerful autumn rally [that lasts until today] was the June-July bullish divergence.
